The Richmond Ultra Race Rules
This section of the Thames Challenge has Thames Path signs on both sides of the river, so it is important you follow the designated route as indicated on our maps and written directions. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from this and future events.
The Richmond Ultra is organized by Ultra Running Limited and is open to runners who need to achieve a minimum of 4mph. Below this you will not be allowed to continue through a check-point. All entrants must be 18 years of age or over at the start of the race. Each competitor must ensure that they carry with them all of their individual requirements needed to complete the race.
Every entrant must confirm that they have read these rules and other event information and therefore understand the nature of the event and that participation is at their own risk.
Competitors must register at the start location at least one hour before the start of the race and present their kit for examination on request. Race start is 8.00am. Registration opens at 7.00am and closes at 7.30am.
Each participant will be given a race number which must be clearly attached by safety pins to the front chest. If this is not clearly visible you may be delayed at checkpoints.
Relay Teams consist of entrants just running sections of the course and handing over to their respective team member at designated check-points.
Competitors must be self-sufficient, and carry the following mandatory items:
Checkpoints and Water Stations
The Richmond Ultra benefits from two CP Stations, both providing water and some nutritions.
Competitors must go through all check points and it is their sole responsibility to ensure that the check point attendant has recorded their race number; failure to do so at any check point will mean the competitor has failed to complete the race and will be disqualified.
Any competitor found to not follow the pre-determined race route will be disqualified.
If any competitor has to retire for whatever reason they must contact the race organisers immediately, either by advising a checkpoint attendant or telephoning the emergency number given at the start of the race. The emergency number will also be written on the front of each competitors race Bib.
The Richmond Ultra will have pre-set cut-off times along the route, allowing an average minimum pace of 4 mph. In addition, if Ultra Running or any of its representatives deem for any reason that a competitor should not continue, Ultra Running Limited’s decision will be final.
It is each competitors sole responsibility to organise transport to the start and from the finish.
