Severn Challenge (Stage 5)

Final leg of ‘7’

Monday 4th June 2012 – 28 miles
The final stage of ‘The Severn Challenge’. Complimentary breakfast for the ‘7’competitors will be available between 5.45am and 6.30am. Race start is 7.00am.

This is another comparatively flat stage. The path soon reaches the river again at Purton, briefly departing at Sharpness and Newton before circumnavigating the Berkeley Power Station, then back to the river taking on Oldbury-on-Severn, Oldbury Pill and Littleton Pill.

Pass under the M48 and M4 motorway bridges, arrive at the mouth of the Severn ‘Severn Beach’, where ‘7’ competitors will have achieved a staggering 214 miles in just five days. They will also be able to count the challenge as five completed marathons against organisations such as the 100 Marathon Club.

Some food will be provided at the finish, but main food for ‘7’ competitors will be provided back at Holt Castle, Ultra Running will provide a coach transfer back to Camp 5 at Holt Castle. Dependant on finisher times, it is anticipated that competitors will be transferred by coach back to Holt Castle at no later than 1.00pm. The journey should be completed within two hours and back at Holt Castle, at about 3.00pm. It is also anticipated that this stage will benefit from a minimum of three check-points which will provide water and some nutrition.
